Doors and Windows of Galle Fort.

Galle Fort, the quintessentially Dutch area, in the city of Galle, Sri Lanka, is a quaint place that does not cease to surprise you every time you take a walk through its many lanes and by-lanes. During our short stay in this heritage place and during one of our morning walks there, Inderjit noticed that every house had very distinct door and window designs. We then had this 'Eureka' moment and decided to document most of them for a small personal project.

And then what?! The very next morning, when the sun was just up, we were out in those lanes, clicking away as many marvellous wooden doors and windows as possible of the houses there. We tried our best to be quiet and discrete while photographing, so as not to disturb or annoy any of the owners.

Trust me, they look much, much better in reality as against in these pictures, thanks to our basic camera! (Argh!)

But nevertheless, here they are…

Just another reason to "get lost" in the town of Galle, during your Sri Lankan trip. :-)
